Friends of the Tame Valley, the community group looking after the Tame Valley and surrounding areas, braved the wet weather on Sunday and took to Jet Amber Fields for a New Years clean-up.
FoTV was formed in 2020 with the help of Denton Reddish MP Andrew Gwynne. Consisting solely of volunteers, the group aims to “improve and enhance the area for all to enjoy”.
A huge number of volunteers came down to Sunday’s event, including young people from 4th Denton (St Anne’s) Cubs and Young Leaders. They were joined by MP Gwynne, as well as Denton North East councillors Denise Ward and Allison Gwynne.
Commenting on the success of the day, Andrew Gwynne said:
“This was such a fantastic day out, and we had a great turnout on a pretty wet and windy day!
I’d just like to thank all the volunteers who took time out of their weekend to make a positive difference to our Tame Valley. A special thanks also to St Anne’s Scout Group, who got stuck in and helped us clear lots of rubbish from the area.
I’m so proud of the work that Friends of the Tame Valley does, and would encourage anyone who is interested to get involved and help us make the Tame Valley a cleaner and greener place for everyone.”
